Mrs. K of Edgware, North London, was awarded £7,500.00 in damages for the left arm damage she sustained after receiving rabies vaccinations in May 2018.

It has been more than a year since the customer had rabies immunization shots in his left arm. In addition to frequent and considerable discomfort in her left arm after the injections, the client also suffered continuous shooting sensations.

In November 2019, the client went to a private hospital and had an ultrasound and MRI scan performed on her left shoulder. This was in order to determine the cause of her discomfort. It was discovered that she had soft tissue thickening and some fat thickening, as well as a slight separation of the subcutaneous fascial line.

She was diagnosed with a subcutaneous fascial hole (or tissue injury) in her left arm, and it was determined that she would benefit from a 6- to 8-week physiotherapy program that included ultrasound shockwave treatment and deep tissue massage. From January to March 2020, the customer had five sessions of ultrasonic shockwave treatment on the left arm/shoulder.

In the course of our investigation, an independent Consultant Orthopedic and Trauma Surgeon verified that the client’s ongoing pain was likely caused by the rabies injections he received in May 2018. He explained that, based on the pinpoint placement of the injection site, localized tenderness, and depigmentation of the skin, and the ultrasound scan results, the ongoing pain was most likely caused by the rabies injections he received in May 2018.

Additionally, the expert verified that if the client had been given an injection into the deltoid muscle, she would not have suffered the damage revealed on the ultrasound scan. In addition, she would not have experienced discomfort following the rabies shot. In addition, our specialist determined that the customer would require further treatment in the form of steroid injections guided by ultrasonography.

Since May 2018, the client has been experiencing continuous and substantial discomfort in her left arm and shoulder due to the defendant’s negligence. The client’s suffering is expected to continue for another three months following the completion of the required therapy, as recommended by our independent expert.
